One of the worst blogging management mistakes is forgetting to manage their blog post. New blogger as example, most of them are rushing their post when they start a new blog. They are eager to make more post, their objective is to make their blog fill with rich content. I’m not blaming them for this, but many of them forget that blogging is not about having rich content but to serving your reader with valuable post. The worst part is when they start to know that they don’t have nothing to post with. When this happen, you will see lots of dead blog on the internet.
Ok, we know our problem, so help us fix this problem. Actually, every blogger have their answer. All you have to do is ask your self what the best way to solve this problem. Then you will know that the cure of this disease is management. With management, everything you hope can be done smoothly. Management is all about planning, acting and evaluate. With this simple method you can measure your success and you have ability to improve your work even better. Now, let’s talk about managing your blog post. There are many way to manage your blog, but for now I just want to share few important points how to manage your blog post. Afterwards you can improvise your own blog post management.
Preparing Your Post
First thing to do is to find an idea for your post. Once you find one, you need to gather relevant info and reference for your idea. This can be done be conducting small research on the net. When all resource has been gathered, you may start making your draft content. Writing draft content could take 200-300 word, but you can write long content between 1000-5000 words depend on what topic you want to write. Draft should contain most of all your thought. But keep it simple as you can, because you don’t want to waste your reader time just for bunch of fluff. When your draft ready, next step is proofreading your draft. This step is very important step, you need to check your draft grammar and spelling mistakes. Proofreading can be useful for editing or adding your thought and correcting mistakes on your draft. Once you have finish proofreading on your draft, your content is now ready to publish.
Make Your Own Posting Schedule
Not all blogger can online 24 hour a day, sometimes they caught on other work or on holiday. You will find a day where you don’t have time to online or forget to update your blog. This will happen to you someday. Before this happen, you need to arrange your own posting schedule just to maintain your blog updated. In the beginning, I have mentioned about prepare your post. These methods are useful for you to have your own article bank. When you have lot of article collection, you don’t have to worry running out post or updating your blog. All you need is a posting schedule.
Arranging your posting timing
Posting timing is a time when you want post your article. You need to decide what best posting frequency for your blog. How often you post your content? Did you post your content once a day, one a week or one a month. It’s up to you to decide, but make it consistent. Your consistency will affect when your reader come to your blog.
Proofreading
Before you want to post your content, you need once again to proofreading your content. Correct all grammar and spelling mistakes. You don’t want your reader critic your content. So you must be careful on this thing. Once you publish your post, check again your post. If you find any mistakes, fix it immediately.
Posting Technique
This step is the final step of posting management. You need to setup your post based on your posting timing. I always use this technique to anticipate if something goes wrong. The main concept is adjusting when your post will go live. With this adjustment you can set up which date and time your post will auto publish on your blog. Example, you have 5 content ready to post, but you don’t want to post it all at once in same day. This technique is very simple, when you write your post, you will see post timestamp options on your blog admin. If you set the date same with the date you post the article, your post will go live at the same date. But if you set to next day or next week, your post will go live when match the system date with the timestamp date.
First article – Post Timestamp (today) – Post will go live today
Second article – Post Timestamp (5 June 2008) – Post will go live on 5 June 2008
Third article – Post Timestamp (7 June 2008) – Post will go live on 7 June 2008
Fourth article – Post Timestamp (15 June 2008) – Post will go live on 15 June 2008
Fifth article – Post Timestamp (25 June 2008) – Post will go live on 25 June 2008
With post timestamp, you can easily manage your post when should be live. Post timestamp technique can be really helpful if you have plan on holiday or not going online for few days. With this technique you don’t have to rushing a post or post your article every day.
