Why, on your web pages of course. Ok, just kidding. The real question should be: “Is there really any truth to the rumors that where you place those Google AdSense ads can actually improve response?” According to my best information, the answer to that question is: Yes.

Google’s own AdSense experts say that that there is a direct correlation between the placement of the AdSense ads and the resulting clickthrough.

When ads are placed in “content zones”, rather than in “advertising zones”, response rates on Google AdWords goes up. There are also indications showing that ads appearing on the right side of the page get clicked more than ads appearing on the left side.

Advertising analysts with degrees in human behavior and psychology have spent thousands of man-years (people-years?) studying how people read printed and Internet content and what it takes to get them to respond to ads. While some of these studies are proprietary, or are only available to anyone with $10,000 or more to spend on a copy, other studies have been made public and can be read by anyone who is interested.

Google themselves has released some relevant information which is focused directly on increasing your Google AdSense response. You can read their findings here (https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html).

Of course, all of the studies in the world aren’t worth a hill of beans if the findings don’t work on your web site. That’s why it is important to test, test and test again. Experiment with your Google AdSense placement and track the results over a period of time. Google provides response tracking tools in your AdSense control panel. Learn how to use them. As you begin to see what may be only subtle differences in response, you’ll be able to determine what works best for your particular site. But don’t get complacent.…

Inbound links bring you traffic and boost your ranking!

One time I saw a blog that saying,

If you want to increase traffic… get links!

If you want to get high page rank … get links!!

Link, link, links!!!

Though that blog was written for general web sites owner, when it comes to blogging, nothing changes!

Strictly speaking, the amount of traffic coming from external links may be small compared to that of one coming from major search engines. But,it is highly targeted traffic and moreover it does increase your page rank. Thus, more traffic can be expected from search engines.

One may raise a question. “How many inbound links do I need?”

Sorry, it’s a wrong question. Quality of links matters, having many inbound links is not bad, though. If you have external inbound links from absolutely not related to your blog theme, the links are just junk. And if they are coming from the site which have lower page rank than your blog site, it doesn’t help you much. That said; quality matters.

One way to get inbound link is link exchange. You link to other sites and ask the owner of that site to link back to you. I don’t want to discourage you from doing link exchange, however, it is difficult and time consuming job. Whenever possible, try to get inbound links by doing link exchange. But you may put more effort to do other things yet more effective ones.

First, why getting inbound links by link exchange is difficult?

Most of web masters and bloggers know that they have to get inbound links from

  • the web sites or blog sites that have similar themes as theirs
  • those have higher page rank than theirs

The first one generally doesn’t produce problem. But there seems to be logical problem when the second one is concerned. If everybody wants to get…

How to use keyword research as traffic building method?

If you are serious to make money from blog, you must think about keyword before you write. And use that keyword repeatedly (more frequently than your high school English grammar teacher would say “it’s a good English.”) in your blog.

Why you have to use a keyword?

Using keyword in your blog is one of powerful ways to bring traffic to your blog. Why? It’s simple. People search using keywords to look for information. If your blog includes those keywords, they will find your blog from the search engine result page and will come to you to find the information they were looking for. But is that really simple like that? Not exactly. Two things must be considered.

  • The keyword you’re using must be related to your blog topic. When you’re blogging about ‘racing car’ for example, if you use ‘basketball’ as a keyword, it won’t help you bring the traffic. Moreover, if the visitor came to you to find information about ‘basketball’, he will leave your blog having bad impression on you because he couldn’t get any relevant information from your blog. So, the rule number 1 is to use the keyword related to your topic.
  • Suppose you discovered high demand keyword (a keyword many people uses) related to your blog topic, does using that keyword guarantee you a lot of traffic? What if many bloggers are talking about similar topic using that keyword? If so, although many searchers use that keyword, probably they’ll go to other bloggers who are ranked more highly in the search engine than you.The point is that you have to find the keyword that has high demand but a few supply. In other word, you have to find ‘niche keyword.’

How to find the ‘niche keyword’?

It’s two fold. First, find…

  • How to use keywords as a SEO technique
  • What to consider when you choose blog templates
  • How to construct your blog search engine friendly
  • Ping your blog

How to use keywords as a SEO technique?

As long as SEO is concerned, the keyword comes at front line. You have to find the target keyword/keywords or niche keywords.

What to do with the keyword/keywords? Please read on…..

  • Enter keywords in your blog name: If you named your blog for example, “Ryen’s blog”, it’s not a good idea in the view of SEO. Instead name your blog something like “keyword blog”. You need to substitute “keyword” with your “target keyword”, for example “mountain bike blog”, if your blog is about mountain bike.
  • Enter keywords of your post in title tag: Actually most of bloggers don’t need to concern about “title tag” because most of blog hosting applications such as blogger, typepad, wordpress, movable type, drupal, etc… care this for you. But you have to use the keyword in your title and then they will include it in the title tag for you.
  • Enter keywords in meta description tag, if possible: This may be difficult for most of bloggers because most of blog hosting system don’t support this. If this is your case, don’t bother with this. To make it possible is almost impossible for the people like…

Many surfers use the Google or Alexa bar that integrates into their web browsers which consequently makes it easier for them to search and navigate through Internet. However, how many have the “overall page rank” indicator on these bars which shows either a ranking or the importance of the page?

The overall page rank in directories like Google, Yahoo or Alexa is the key factor while doing a search. It decides which website or page deserves the top places in the results of the search of a keyword. The search engine basically calculates the importance of the webpage.

For example, let’s say that you prepared a webpage supplying the users with focused, detailed and understandable info. You think your page deserves a high importance, therefore when you search for the theme of your website, you believe it should be shown in the top 20. Well, sometimes life is cruel. If you don’t optimize your webpage for a specific keyword, if you don’t get enough inbound links directing the user to your site, you would be disappointed by the 1/10 importance rating in Google. Don’t give up! It’s still worth fighting for. There are several factors which decide the page rank of a website.

First of all, Internet is not like the streets of a city: if you put your “shop” in a busy street, people will drop by your place. No visit on Internet is a coincidence. You have to create your links from other sites (inbound links). You also have to increase the internal linking of your website so that visitors can just “hang around” in your site. So your first factor for the page rank is the linking of your page.

Secondly, pages which attract more users (i.e. number of unique daily users) are obviously more important…

If you own your own website or have a page supplied by a program, growing website traffic will be one of the keys to your success. You need a growing, self-generating stream of website traffic and plenty of it. Preferably free and preferably preconditioned to buy your product of service.

This article provides some ideas for growing website traffic.

(1) Directories
Directories are website listings. The trick is to find a directory which receives huge volumes of website traffic. Start by applying for listings in Yahoo, DMOZ and Looksmart. These are huge portals with significant website traffic. Getting listed isn’t easy but once achieved you will see a significant lift in your website traffic. Look at other directories but make sure they have a good traffic rating (use Alexa).

(2) Traffic Exchanges
Every website you view in a traffic exchange generates credits which are exchanged for views of your site. This website traffic is free and can be generated almost instantly. The more sites you view the more people visit your website and the more your website traffic grows.

(3) Article Writing
One of the most effective methods of generating website traffic. Best of all its free. Magazines, Ezines and Webmasters are always looking for fresh content. Just write an article on any topic which interests you, optimize it for keywords and be sure to include your website URL in the bio line at the bottom of the article. Then submit it to ezine directories on the web. This will generate website traffic and create backlinks to your site, which in turn helps with search engine rankings.

(4) Search Engine Optimization
Making sure your website is search engine friendly will certainly help grow your website traffic. Ensure all the meta and alt tags are completed, optimize the text for your chosen keywords, ensure there is an H1…

Building niche sites is all the rage these days.

The basic strategy is very simple. Find a niche market that isn’t oversaturated. Develop a list of related keywords people are searching on. Then write an article optimized for each one of your keywords. Once you have your articles, upload them to your site. Monitize your site with affiliate links and Adsense.

For this kind of niche site to be effective and make money, it is imperative that you get free traffic, and a lot of it. And that’s exactly where a blog can be your best friend.

At its very simplest, a blog is just a structure. It’s the bones of a web site. A blog is a simple way to publish and display your content online. Most of us think of blogs as a chronicle of news events, or commentary on news and items of interest. Or personal diaries.

Few people stop to think that you can build any kind of website with a blog. In reality, a blog can be used very effectively to build a niche site. The fact of the matter is, a blog is the easiest way to publish your niche site content. But the biggest reason to use a blog is that it can drive traffic to your site a lot faster than a statically-built site. A niche site built with a blog is a very powerful strategy.

First, choose your niche and research your keywords. Write your first article based on one of those keywords, just as you would when building a regular site. Then set up your blog and publish that article. Your niche site is now live.

To make your site structure the most effective, be sure to choose a blog that allows the use of Categories, such as Word Press or Moveable Type. Use…
